VCF FOC 2010

I just came back from VCF FOC camp and I am feeling really thankful and grateful to God for the wonderful things that happened there. When I signed up for VCF, I told Kenan that I didn't mind signing up for assistant OGL, but in the end there is no such thing as that in VCF FOC. I was also not aware that you can actually signed up as a senior but nonetheless, the LORD had given me an extraordinary time as an OGL.

Gladys and I had an awesome OG. Most of the people are really enthusiastic and spontaneous. I am really encouraged to see them having fun and also learning about the need to not defile themselves even in a new environment like NUS. It was really great having ZhiHan and Reuben in the group as the 2 of them helped to spiced up the OG team. So I am absolutely thankful to God for granting me wonderful people to helped me.

These 4 days had been really memorable as we had great mass games and the night walk was also really enjoyable, my favourite character was definitely the jester, which was played by Reyben hahaa, he can surely make us laugh really hard. I also enjoyed the mass games too. Even though I had played them before during the Dry Run, it was yet another new experience having to play the game with the freshies. So it is indeed a joy playing all of the games. There were other wonderful activities like the standing comm time when we played a role. I was a 45 year old 'waitress' so I had lots of fun doing my role but it was a good learning experience having to understand the plight of real people who suffered under such social conditions. It really impacted me to do more than just evangelism, i.e social action is something important too.

Our messages for the camp was called "Dare to Be", it was based on the Book of Daniel who refused to defile himself despite being exiled into the Babylonian Empire. It was a reminder for Christians who are entering NUS to not conform to the NUS culture of fierce competing or mugging nor being influence to indulge in immorality for those living in NUS Halls.

Oh well, the FINALE came and we learnt that in the end it's not about competing with one another to get the prize that matters but the 10 teams need to work together hand in hand so that we can meet the objective of the camp, i.e to free the Good King Koi and defeat the Evil King Kong. The lovely thing was that the key to freeing the Good King from prison had a shape of a crucifix. :)

I really enjoyed the camp. I thank all the OGLs, seniors, standing comm, exco, FOC comm, VCF staff workers and the VCF dinos who all chipped in to make this camp an awesome and memorable camp. I also praise God for holding us together and doing whatever He can for this camp. Indeed all honor and glory and praises to our LORD God who touched our heart so that we can serve one another in love :)))
