Church Retreat 2010

I went for a church retreat from the 18th to the 21st June. Overall I had a wonderful time of fellowship with my fellow believers and also with God. I enjoyed the free and wasy time where I played table tennis with Kenwei, Lynn, Kevin, Samuel, Linus and William. I also learnt a lot from the speaker John Chong's sharing of the need to be able to learn to be like a pendulum oscillating from labour to rest asa well as a Christ centred balanced life.

Personally I feel that this church retreat was more like a church camp because we seem to be more involved in the activities rather than retreating to a quiet corner to rest. The only few times when I find it like a retreat is when I do the morning devotions. Sadly, it was not a good place to retreat because in my state of mind, i expect myself to be sitting at a quiet corner and gazing at awe at God's creation and enjoying His presence in the process. However as I sat at the beach to be immersed with the beautiful waves splashing and the peaceful silence, I got my blood sucked by sand flies. which seriously irritated me to a great extent. Oh well, next time I should apply insect repellent hahaaa

Nonetheless, I really appreciate the hard work that the church retreat comittee put in for making this camp well done. It is indeed a blessing that God can use us well to minister to one another. I am grateful to Him.

One thing that God spoke to me from this camp was the need to empty the clutter in my mind. Before this camp, I was really packed with work from my temporary job. Though I was well paid, this job brought me tremendous stress. I was also busily trying to prepare for the upcoming activities after this church camp like my Mount Kinabalu trip and the VCF FOC. God spoke to me and reminded me the need to just empty out the clutter in my mind. Even though the camp was 4 days, time passed way too quickly and it ended today. I kinda missed it and sometimes I wished I can turn back time and go for a retreat again. Oh well I thank God that in the New Heaven and Earth, there will be no more pain and suffering and we can enjoy His presence and rest in His arms forever and ever. :)))
